On 15th May 2024, the Czech Ministry of Foreign Affairs football team played a friendly match with a team of representatives of Ibero-American countries. The official kick-off was performed by Deputy Minister Jiří Kozák and the fans included the ambassadors of Argentina, Peru and Cuba. The match ended 5:4 in favour of the ministerial team, which has existed at the MFA since 1994.
The ceremonial kick-off at the Přátelství football pitch in Strahov was performed by the Deputy Foreign Minister Jiří Kozák in the presence of the embassy representatives and then the match started under the supervision of professional referees, the head referee Vojtěch Opočenský and the assistant referees Lukáš Macháč and Nikola Šafránková, FIFA assistants.
The Ibero-American team included representatives of Argentina, Ecuador, Mexico, Peru, Spain and Uruguay.
The international diplomatic match took place as part of the 3rd edition of Ibero-American Week, which is organised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs together with the embassies of Latin American countries, Spain and Portugal, and which includes a number of academic and cultural activities.
