Norway Grants help Mlad á Boleslav with adaptation to climate change in theory and practice
Norway Grants, which financially support fifteen countries from Central, Eastern and South Europe, are currently helping with the second project in Statutory City of Mlad á Boleslav. Work is currently undergoing to improve microclimatic conditions in locality na Radou č i. This project, implemented in the northern housing estate, is a follow-up to the previously developed Climate Change Adaptation Strategy.
The aim of Norway Grants is to reduce economic and social dispa rities in the European Economic Area (EEA) and to strengthen cooperation with the European countries. Since 2004, Norway Grants have supported over 1700 projects worth more than CZK 11 billion in the Czech Republic. The support is focused on projects in science and research, environmental protection, cultural heritage and cultural cooperation, public health, education and cooperation in justice.
Mlad á Boleslav is currently inv olved in the second project. Norway Grants help with adaptation to climate change in theory and practice .
The Norway Grants contribution helped to develop the Climate Change Adaptation Strategy in 2021.
This crucial document informs about the impacts of changing climate and natural conditions in the locality. The aim of this adaptation is to reduce the threat to people and nature in long-term as well as to be resilient in incidents. The results of the investigation describe in detail the biggest threats including proposals and measures.
Thanks to this adaptation , two years later, Mlad á Boleslav succeeded with the application for support for revitalization of the inner yard in the northern housing estate between the blocks of flats on Jana Palacha street 1107-1112 and 17. listopadu . The investment includes a complete layout, planting new vegetation (trees and bushes), building some new water components, children ´ s playground and other street furniture.
The city has been drawing more than CZK 9.5 million from Stavanger call. The above-mentioned Climate Change Adaptation Strategy was supported CZK 1 million by a grant from the Oslo call. In addition, more than CZK 1.6 million to the city ´ s investment has been contributed by the State Environmental Fund of the Czech Republic.
