District News

In the year 2023, Prague 11 implements a project subsidized by the Czech Ministry of the Interior supporting integration of foreigners for the eighth year in a row. The project is called “Support for integration of foreigners in Prague 11“, and includes nine subprojects: „Cultural dialogue 2023“; „Extracurricular Czech classes for temporary protection holders and foreign children with a different native language at kindergartens and elementary schools in Prague 11“; „Intercultural workers for Vietnamese minority in Prague 11 “; „Intercultural workers for newcoming refugees and other Ukrainian and Russian speaking residents of Prague 11”; „Section for foreigners in Prague 11 bulletin - KLÍČ“; „Together at the library – low threshold assistance with homework at the Municipal Library “; „Czech course for grownup foreigners from Prague 11 administrative district“; „Professional psychosocial support for women coming from Ukraine during war “; „Social and community activation of temporary protection holders newly arriving in Prague 11“. Free Time in the District / Community Life and Sports

We invite you to the Prague 11 branches of the municipal library! You can find two branches here: Chodov branch: Jírovcovo náměstí 1782/1; Opatov branch: Opatovská 1754/14. The library has long been much more than just a place to borrow books; it’s a space where lots of cultural and educational activities take place (language courses, a book club, theatres, concerts, conversations with interesting people or art workshops) . ? The Opatov branch of the municipal library offers an “Art club”. The club is open to all children over the age of 5. The art club at the library is a nice place to do arts, chat and meet new friends. Culture and Education

Do Ukrainian children have to attend Czech school? Yes, they do! Visit the doskolyspolecne.cz website and find all the practical information in one place. ? “Jak do školy na Praze 11” : skolstvijm.cz – a website with easy to access information about schools. ? Prague City Gallery (GHMP) offers entry to all exhibitions for 1 CZK for Ukrainian citizens. They also organise side events and educational programs for children and grownups free of charge with possible interpreting into Ukrainian. There are lots of events offered: concerts, tours, story reading, art workshops for kids and grownups. Don’t hesitate to have a look at the program and come have a look at interesting and beautiful places around Prague: ghmp.cz/ghmp-ukrajine. The events are free of charge and open to everyone . ? META, o.p.s. has prepared a Practical guide– bilingual informative sheets with guidelines on common situations concerning education: meta-ops.eu/prakticky-radce/informace ? Prague 11 in collaboration with Prague Innovation Institute organises a Czech course for children with a different native language. The course started on August 8, and will continue till October 26. Come visit our tutoring hours at the Opratov branch of the municipal library (Opatovská 14, Prague 11), which take place on Tursdays from 4PM to 6PM. Ask the librarians at the desk. The tutoring is free of charge and you don’t need to register in advance, just come and see.
