The first electrified models of the Skoda Auto Company in The Hague

Skoda Auto chose the Westbroekpark in The Hague for its Europe-wide introduction of the first two electrified models: Superb iV and Citigo iV. The site was not chosen randomly - the Netherlands is one of the leading countries in the field of electromobility and with its charging infrastructure provides the necessary facilities for the operation of electric cars.

More than 250 journalists from 22 European countries attended the one-week presentation event; after arriving at Schiphol in Amsterdam, they traveled by hybrid Superb the 50 km highway to The Hague, where they had the opportunity to try out the full-electric Citigo in the city traffic. The Skoda exposition was also visited by the economic diplomat of the Czech Embassy in The Hague, who took advantage of the test drive of one of the Citigo iV vehicles.

Electromobility is a key pillar of Skoda Auto's “GreenFuture” sustainability strategy. As early as 2025, up to 25 % of all vehicles delivered should be electrified and the CO2 emissions of the entire fleet should be reduced by 30 % compared to 2015. After the release of the Citigo iV and Superb iV, the range will increase to more than ten electrified models by the end of 2022. Over the next five years, the company will spend a total of two billion euros on the development of electric vehicles and new mobility services.

The Netherlands is currently a major market for Skoda cars - in 2018 the company sold 18,800 cars, which represented a 4.2 % market share (a historical record was reached in 2011 and 2014, when the number of cars sold exceeded twenty thousand pcs). The most successful model is the Skoda Octavia, followed by the Skoda Fabia.
