Kudos to Pushkin! (14.05.2024)

The Bank of Russia issues commemorative coins dedicated to the most beloved and renowned Russian poet Alexander Pushkin. He created the modern Russian literature language. Pushkin’s tales are the start of our journey to the world of Russian literature and then we turn to his verses and prose throughout our lifetime. Puskin’s works served as the basis for operas, ballets, performances and films.

On 14 May 2024, the Bank of Russia issues commemorative coins ‘The 225th Anniversary of the Birth of Alexander Pushkin’ of the Historical Events series:

— a 3-ruble silver coin,

— a 100-ruble silver coin, and

— a 10,000-ruble gold coin.

The silver coins in the denomination of 3 rubles (fine metal content 31.1 g, fineness 925/1,000) and 100 rubles (fine metal content 1,000.0 g, fineness 925/1,000) have a round shape and are 39.0 mm and 100.0 mm in diameter, respectively. The 10,000-ruble gold coin (fine metal content 1,000.0 g, fineness 999/1,000) has a round shape and is 100.0 mm in diameter.

The obverse and the reverse of the coins have a relief rim around the circumference.

The obverse of the coins features a relief image of the National Coat of Arms of the Russian Federation and the inscriptions: ‘?????????? ?????????’ (RUSSIAN FEDERATION), ‘???? ??????’ (BANK OF RUSSIA), the denomination of the coins ‘3 ?????’ (3 RUBLES), ‘100 ??????’ (100 RUBLES), ‘10000 ??????’ (10,000 RUBLES), the year of issue: ‘2024 ?.’ (2024), the chemical symbol of the metal according to Mendeleev’s Periodic Table of Elements, fineness, the Saint Petersburg Mint trademark, and fine metal content. The obverse of the gold coin in the denomination of 10,000 rubles bears an indication of the serial number of the coin and the sign ‘№’ (No.) at the bottom near the inscription with the fine metal content.

The reverse of:

— the 3-ruble silver coin (Catalogue No. 5111-0501) features relief images of Alexander Pushkin’s portrait and an inkpot and images of the scene from a winter trip and a feather, laser treated for matte finishing; and the inscription ‘?.?. ??????’ (Alexander Pushkin), the years of the poet’s birth and death ‘1799’ and ‘1837’ and a decorative ornament under the portrait.

The edge of the coin is corrugated.

The coin is minted in proof quality.

The mintage of the coin is 3.0 thousand pcs;

— the 100-ruble silver coin (Catalogue No. 5117-0068) features a relief image of Alexander Pushkin standing against the background of the Hermitage Theatre and the Hermitage Bridge and images of the Winter Canal, the Peter and Paul Fortress, the city, a cloudy sky and an arch with lines from the manuscript of the Monument poem, laser treated for matte finishing; and the inscription ‘?.?. ??????’ (Alexander Pushkin), the years of his birth and death ‘1799’ and ‘1837’ and a decorative ornament, designed in relief, on the right.

The edge of the coin is corrugated.

The coin is minted in proof-like quality.

The mintage of the coin is 0.1 thousand pcs;

— the 10,000-ruble gold coin (Catalogue No. 5221-0035) features a relief image of Alexander Pushkin sitting under an oak tree against the background of images of scenes from his fairy tales, laser treated for matte finishing; and an image of a scroll bearing the inscription ‘?.?. ??????’ (Alexander Pushkin), the years of his life ‘1799—1837’ and an ornament, laser treated for matte finishing, and a relief image of a lyre, at the bottom.

The edge of the coin is corrugated.

The coin is minted in proof-like quality.

The mintage of the coin is 0.05 thousand pcs.

The new coins are legal tender of the Russian Federation and are mandatory for acceptance for all kinds of payments without any restrictions at their face value.
