VP Suica delivers a keynote speech via video message

I am honoured to be a part of this impressive process. We are implementing a forward-looking priority, as we seek to include a reformed child protection system and child rights reform in Ukraine's reconstruction process.

From the EU's perspective, the reconstruction is also intimately linked with Ukraine's EU accession aspirations.

The vision for the overall reconstruction of Ukraine, which many of my Ukrainian friends have told me about, is to ‘Build Back Better'.

Let us not forget that prioritising childcare and protection is fundamental to creating a future where every child can thrive and contribute to the country's economic revitalisation.

Without safeguarding Ukraine's future generations, the reconstruction of the country will neither be complete nor sustainable.

This is why, I subscribe fully to the unified statement that is being proposed to endorse the Better Care Reform in Ukraine.

All of us who are participating in this initiative want to see a peaceful, prosperous future for the children of Ukraine. Living securely in their country. Future citizens of the European Union!

This is a vision my fellow Commissioners and I are committed to!

Slava Ukraini!
