Growth of sales in services accelerated

In the Q2 2026, sales adjusted for calendar effects increased in real terms by 3.1%, year‑on-year (y-o-y). Seasonally adjusted sales increased by 1.0%, quarter-on-quarter (q-o-q).

“Sales in services in the Q2 2026 increased by 3.1%, year -on- year . The highest contribution to the growth was recorded in professional , scientific and technical activities , in which sales increased by 7.1%. It was followed by transportation and storage with a year -on- year increase by 4.6%,” Tomáš Harák, Head of the Trade , Services , and Environmental Statistics Data Support Unit of the Czech Statistical Office (CZSO), says .

Quarter -on- quarter , seasonally adjusted sales in services1) increased in real terms by 1.0%, in the Q2. The growth was supported the most by transportation and storage , in which sales increased by 2.5%.

In the year -on- year comparison , sales adjusted for calendar effects increased by 3.1%. The highest contribution to the growth of services was recorded by the section of professional , scientific and technical activities , in which sales increased by 7.1%. On the other hand, the growth was slowed down the most by administrative and support service activities with a decrease by 0.4%.

Sales in transportation and storage increased by 4.6%. The following contributred the most to the growth: land transport and transport via pipelines, which is the most significant in terms of its volume (growth by 5.5%) and related warehousing and support activities for transportation (growth by 6.4%). Positive development was also recorded by water transport (by 5.0%) and by postal and courier activities (by 0.2%). On the other hand, in air transport there was a decrease of sales by 11.7%.

Sales in accommodation and food service activities increased by 0.9%. In food and beverage service activities there was an increase by 2.3% and in accommodation a decrease by 5.3%.

Sales in information and communication increased by 1.8%. The overall growth was the most contributed to by development of sales in computer programming, consultancy and related activities, which increased by 3.9% and include, for example, computer programming activities, computer facilities management activities, and computer consultancy activities. Sales also increased in the following: programming and broadcasting activities by 4.1%, music and motion picture activities by 2.8%, and information service activities by 1.3%, which include, for example, data processing, hosting and related activities; web portals. A decrease of sales by 1.0% was reported by t elecommunications and a sales decrease by 2.3% by publishing activities .

Sales in real estate activities decreased, y-o-y, by 0.4% .

In professional, scientific and technical activities2) sales increased by 7.1%. The highest year-on-year increment was rerported by activities of head offices; management consultancy activities, namely by 13.8%. However, the growth of the entire section was supported the most by architectural and engineering activities; technical testing and analysis, in which sales increased by 10.0%. Higher sales, y-o-y, were also attained by legal and accounting activities (by 9.2%) and by o ther professional, scientific and technical activities (by 5.1%). The only industry that slowed down the growth of this section was a dvertising and market research with a decrease by 2.6%.

In administrative and support service activities , sales decreased by 0.4%. The total decrease of the section was caused by a decrease of sales by 5.7% in t ravel agency, tour operator and other reservation service and related activities. Sales also decreased in e mployment activities, namely by 0.7%. Other economic activities of services already increased, year-on-year. The following recorded a positive development: security and investigation activities (by 1.4%) and also s ervices to buildings and landscape activities (by 2.9%). Office administrative, office support and other business support activities were also successful; sales increased there by 3.5%. The highest year-on-year increment in this section was reported by rental and leasing activities (by 3.6%).
