In the Q1 2026, 4.4 million guests in total accommodated in collective accommodation establishments; they spent 11.1 million nights there. The total number of arrivals increased by 5.2% and the number of overnight stays increased by 5.6%.

The number of overnight stays of guests in collective accommodation establishments increased by 5.6%, year-on-year, to the total of 11.1 million nights. Domestic guests spent in Czechia 5.7 million nights and foreign guests spent there 5.4 million nights. The number of overnight stays of residents increased by 4.1% compared to the corresponding period of the previous year and non-residents reported a y-o-y increase in the number of nights by 7.3%.

“In the Q1 2026, 4.4 million guests in total arrived in collective accommodation establishments. The year-on-year growth by 5.2% was supported by the number of arrivals of both domestic and foreign guests,” Roman Mikula, Head of the Tourism and Environmental Statistics Unit of the Czech Statistical Office (CZSO) , stated. In the monitored accommodation establishments, 2.3 million resident guests accommodated and 2.1 million guests came from abroad.

A hotel-type accommodation recorded a y-o-y increase in the number of guests by 5.6% and in the Q1 2026, 3.4 million guests in total accommodated there. Domestic guests reported a y-o-y increase by 6.4% (1.5 million guests in total) and foreign clients the number of whom was over 1.8 million in the first quarter of 2026 reported growth by 5.0%. In this type of accommodation, the number of overnight stays increased by 6.3% compared to the corresponding period of the previous year and guests spent there almost 8 million nights. In four-star hotels, which are the most visited category of accommodation for a long time, 1.7 million guests accommodated in the first quarter of 2026 and they spent there 4 million nights. By 0.4% less guests, year-on-year, arrived in b oarding houses, however, the number of nights spent there increased by 1.2%.

In terms of comparison of Regions, in the Q1 2026, the total number of guests accommodated in collective accommodation establishments increased, year-on-year, in all Regions of Czechia. In Prague, almost 1.7 million guests accommodated; they spent there 3.8 million nights. 370 thousand guests arrived in the Královéhradecký Region and over 250 thousand guests accommodated in the Jihomoravský Region, in the Karlovarský Region, and in the Liberecký Region. Non-residents accommodated most often in Prague and further in the Karlovarský Region and in the Jihomoravský Region. Following Prague, arrivals of domestic guests were recorded the most in the Královéhradecký Region and in the Liberecký Region. Compared to the corresponding period of the previous year, the number of overnight stays increased in all Regions. Guests spent the highest number of nights in Prague and over a million nights were reported also in the Královéhradecký Region and in the Karlovarský Region.

In total, 2.1 million foreign guests (non-residents; by citizenship) accommodated in collective accommodation establishments in the first quarter of 2026. It was a year-on-year increase in the number of arrivals of non-residents by 5.8%. The highest number of tourists came to Czechia from Germany (474 thousand) and over 100 thousand non-residents also arrived from Poland, Slovakia, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, and Italy. The number of overnight stays of non-residents increased by 7.3%, y-o-y, and foreign tourists spent 5.4 million nights in collective accommodation establishment in Czechia in total.
