Minister Lipavský at the World Economic Forum in Davos

On the 16 and 17 January, the head of Czech diplomacy attended the annual meeting of the World Economic Forum. At a panel moderated by the editor-in-chief of Foreign Policy magazine, he made a plea for support for anchoring the right not to be manipulated. On the sidelines of the meeting, Minister Lipavsky had a series of meetings with his foreign counterparts, including his first meeting with the new Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski.

During his two working days in Davos, Minister Lipavsky participated in several panel discussions, such as Preventing an Era of Global Conflicts and Protecting Democracy against Bots and Plots, on the threats posed to democracy by the misuse of modern technology. He also spoke to world leaders at a meeting with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres.

Among others, Minister Lipavsky held talks with his Polish counterpart Radoslaw Sikorski, Lithuanian Minister Gabrielius Landsbergis, Foreign Minister Yusuf Tuggar of Nigeria, Minister Diana Mondino of Argentina and Demek Mekonnen, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ethiopia. The Head of Czech diplomacy also met with the German MP and Co-Chairman of the parliamentary party Bündnis 90/Die Grünen and with representatives of the non-governmental and private sectors.
