1/5 - While the daytime hours should be quiet, we'll see a risk of isolated strong/severe storms overnight tonight, mainly south of I-10. Locally damaging wind gusts, a brief tornado or two, and localized flash flooding are possible.

In addition to the severe threat, some locally heavy rainfall is also possible, especially closer to the coast. Rainfall totals will generally be around 1-2 inches, but a few spots could see up to 4 inches. Those in southeast AL and southwest GA will likely see 1" or less.

Near the coast and offshore, strong gusty winds are likely during the overnight hours. Winds near the beaches could gust up to 35-45 mph outside of storms with gales likely over the waters. High surf, minor beach erosion, and deadly rip currents are also possible tonight.

We're also still keeping an eye on the system next week, which has the potential to be a significant event with multiple hazards. More details to come on this event over the weekend.
