Leading Czech biotech startup presented in Sweden

In October 2023 David Minařík, a successful Czech scientist and researcher in the field of mycelial materials from mushrooms at CzechGlobe - the Global Change Research Institute of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic held meetings with partners in Stockholm and Uppsala.

David also runs a successful biotechnology startup Myco, where he and his team develop, manufacture and research materials from mushroom mycelium and waste from agriculture and the wood processing industry. These materials ultimately reduce the use of plastics.

During his four-day stay in Sweden, David had the opportunity to present the advantages and properties of the material obtained from mushrooms and waste, which he obtained through his work. At the same time, he exchanged views with Swedish partners from Avfall Sverige (Swedish Waste Management Association), Naturvardsverket (Swedish Environmental Protection Agency), Stockholm University, Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences and Uppsala University on how similar materials can contribute to reducing single-use plastics. One of the points of discussion was the possibility of joint research on mutual projects.

The visit and meeting of David Minarik was prepared by the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Stockholm within the framework of the project to support the implementation of the 2030 Agenda.
