On the basis of a protective measure of the Ministry of Health, the conditions of entry to the Czech Republic for foreigners will be tightened from 27 December 2021. The change includes the obligation for vaccinated persons and persons with a history of covid to undergo a PCR test before entering the Czech Republic. Exceptions will be made for children, those vaccinated under the age of 18 and those vaccinated with a booster dose. For Czech citizens, this measure does not change anything and the existing rules apply.

On Thursday 23 December 2021, following the development of the epidemiological situation, the Ministry of Health adopted a new protection measure, which changes the rules for foreigners travelling to the Czech Republic. The new rules will apply from 27 December 2021. For Czech, EU and third-country nationals with temporary or permanent residence in the Czech Republic, the conditions for returning to the country will remain the same as before.

  • A PCR test (no older than 72 hours) will be required to enter the Czech Republic from all countries, regardless of the level of risk of infection, even for vaccinated people and people who have had a covid.
  • The test requirement will not apply to people with a booster dose. Children under 12 years of age are completely exempt from the vaccination and testing requirement. Those vaccinated between the ages of 12 and 18 do not have to take the test either.
  • For the unvaccinated, there will be an obligation to take an initial test and then a second test upon arrival in the country. This must be taken between the 5th and 7th day after arrival.

Detailed rules will be available on the Ministry of Health website.
