Visitors of Czech Pavilion at EXPO 2020 in Dubai can familiarize themselves with Czech solutions in the area of AI and robotics that form part of the temporary exhibition at the pavilion till November 14. Apart from the exhibition theater piece “Robot Radius” was presented to commemorate 100th Anniversary of Čapek’s play R.U.R.

Multi-robot systems Group of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering of Czech Technical University (CTU) in Prague presents at the Czech Pavilion unique precise drone operation technology that allows drones to operate safely even in building interiors, including the Czech EXPO Pavilion. CTU also presents pilot project of drone autonomous delivery service. Czech robot Matylda that made it in the Czech Book of Records by autonomously hitch-hiking 1.718 kilometers is also showcased at the Pavilion.

Czech AI and robotics is strongly present in the general exhibition part of the Czech Pavilion as well. Till March 2022, visitors can admire Prusa Research 3D printers farm or robotic arm by Brno University of Tehchnology that prints construction blocks from waste grease mixed with desert sand.

Czech technology universities and companies are among the World leaders in the robotics and AI area for quite some time now. By showing Czech solutions in this rapidly growing area we strive to let everyone know that when it comes to robots, they should count with Czechs in the future,” says Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Martin Tlapa.

EXPO 2020 in Dubai also becomes a unique opportunity to remind everyone that the word robot has been invented by Czech Josef Čapek. The theatre piece of his brother Karel Čapek R.U.R.. where the word appeared, was shown for the first time in National Theatre in Prague 100 years ago. To commemorate this anniversary, multimedia show Robot Radius by Miřenka Čechová and Radim Vizváry was presented at the Dubai Exhibition Centre on October 28. The show reintroduced to the World EXPO the Czech theatre concept of Laterna Magika that has been presented to the world at the 1958 EXPO in Brussels.

The topic of Czech robotics is linked also to the gigantic robot sculpture by Jaroslav Róna, that is located at the entrance to the Czech Pavilion. The temporary exposition on Czech AI and robotics will be presented at the Czech Pavilion at EXPO in Dubai till November 14.
