Attention! As summer nears, try to familiarize yourselves with a new Heat Risk Tool now available, which takes into consideration:

How unusual heat is for time of year.

Duration of heat (including day & night temps)

If temps pose a risk of heat-related impacts.

There are 5 Colored Index categories ranging from Minimal (level 1) to Extreme (level 5). ⚪️🟡🟠🔴🟣

Each category identifies groups potentially most at risk, how common the heat is, and for those at risk, what actions can be taken.

Ultimately, this tool useful for decision makers and heat-sensitive populations who may need to take actions below current NWS heat product levels.
